From 11 to 13 May 2026, Prof. Vladimir Falko (University of Manchester), a member of the 2DFERROPLEX consortium, took part in the Moiré Materials Workshop at the Flatiron Institute in New York. The workshop brought together researchers working at the intersection of mathematics, computation and physics in the theory of moiré materials. The recording of his talk, “Twintronics and Moiré structures in van der Waals ferroelectrics”, is available online.
In his talk, Falko presented the work conducted by his research group at the University of Manchester on transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). He described how ferroelectric domains form when atomic thin layers of these materials are stacked, and how they could be used in memory devices.
