The “2D+ 2026” annual meeting of the GDR 2D+ brought together the French and international community working on van der Waals materials at Lyon (France), from 28 September to 2 October. Three members of the 2DFERROPLEX consortium took part in the event.
Vincent Marais, PhD student at the Centre de Recherche sur l’Hétéro-Epitaxie et ses Applications (CRHEA-CNRS), presented a poster titled “2D Sliding Ferroelectrics: Optical Domains Imaging”. The poster showed the progress of his PhD research, which he carries out under the supervision of Antoine Reserbat-Plantey within the framework of 2DFERROPLEX at the Université Coté d’Azur. His poster detailed some of the advances in his work on engineering a new probe to image slide ferroelectrics, materials that switch their electrical polarisation when one layer slides slightly over another, a state is difficult to detect with light. The poster also explained how a high-quality hBN/MoSe₂/hBN sample was made entirely from European-sourced materials.

Antoine Reserbat-Plantey, coordinator of the 2DFERROPLEX project and researcher at CRHEA-CNRS, is the coordinator of the French GDR 2D+ network. Another researcher from CRHEA-CNRS and member of the 2DFERROPLEX consortium, Abderrahim Lamrani Alaoui also took part in the event.
The GDR 2D+ is a Groupement de recherche (research network) of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), dedicated to the study of two-dimensional materials. Its annual meeting covers all topics related to van der Waals materials and their heterostructures, including growth and synthesis, characterisation, electronic transport, optical and spin properties, moiré physics and correlated states. This year’s edition placed particular emphasis on boron nitride.
